During his extensive and varied career, Girish Varma has held numerous technical and leadership positions.

As Executive Vice President of Information Technology Services at CenturyLink, Varma is responsible for all IT services and support, including systems architecture and design, delivery, overseas software development, and for development and sales support of enterprise IT services.

Prior to CenturyLink’s acquisition of Qwest, Varma served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, a position he held from 2006-2011. Prior to joining Qwest, he served as the Vice President of Global Applications Services and the Telecom Center of Competency at IBM. There, he was responsible for the development of new business and practices for the telecom industry, as well as for building critical expertise and delivery excellence for complex Telecom programs.

Prior to joining IBM, Varma was a Vice President at AT&T, where he retired in 2003 after a successful 25-year career. At AT&T, he had the CIO and service development responsibility for AT&T business, network and local services. He started his career at Bell Laboratories where he held a number of technical management positions with increasing responsibilities. During the past several years he led a number of successful business transformation programs in several areas.

Varma is the recipient of a number of business achievement and software excellence awards. He is a member of IEEE.
