You’ve most likely heard the phrase “What happens in Vegas stays in Las Vegas.” Though that may be the case in some instances, CenturyLink’s participation in the Gartner Data Center, Infrastructure & Operations Management Conference in Las Vegas included too many highlights not to share.
We started off the week announcing that we’re finalizing the Uptime Institute Management and Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval certifications across our global data center footprint, a process that started nearly two years ago. To date, we have received this recognition for 52 data centers where we have operations teams on site. Visitors to our booth were able to learn how we achieved this unparalleled success by “unleashing the power of data center hosting” through our operational excellence, security, reliability and advancements in energy efficiency. They also had the opportunity to take our virtual data center tour to get a more detailed look at the capabilities and operations staff that make us an industry leader.
Another highlight of our time at the Gartner conference was the interactive panel discussion led by Drew Leonard, vice president of colocation product management for CenturyLink. Approximately 135 attendees were on hand as Drew joined five panelists to discuss “Navigating the Changing Nature of the Data Center Market.” In addition to debating how best to align the market to fit various customer segment needs, the group focused on how to determine a five-year data center capacity sourcing strategy while optimizing IT operations tools and technologies.
A party is always in style, and the reception we hosted for our customers and prospects was no exception. Data center, IT infrastructure and operations leaders joined us at Canaletto Ristorante to consume refreshments and share in conversation. Though a majority of the talk around the Summit focused on cost benefits of cloud and SD-WAN, the reception provided an opportunity for attendees to network and enjoy some downtime.
We appreciate each of you we encountered at the conference and hope we were able to leave you with some valuable information on CenturyLink, the variety of services we provide and why we’re a leader in the industry.
