December is always a busy month, and it’s no different here at CenturyLink. Though we enjoy occasional office holiday festivities and those extra calorie cookies and desserts like many others, we remain committed serving our data center customers and growing our portfolio of data center hosting offerings. This December is especially busy for us as we work towards closing on the acquisition of CenturyLink’s data center business by BC Partners and Medina Capital through the recently announced strategic agreement.
In addition to the daily responsibilities that go along with running a data center business, I, along with some of my peers, will be representing CenturyLink at the upcoming Gartner Data Center, Infrastructure & Operations Management Conference, December 5-8 in Las Vegas. This event brings together data center, IT infrastructure and operations leaders to discuss enterprise transformation as the new imperative for the data center industry while focusing on infrastructure and operations as the impetus for business-driven strategies and investments.
Attendees will learn how CenturyLink is helping businesses “unleash the power of data center hosting” by offering unparalleled operational excellence, security, reliability and advancements in energy efficiency. I’ll be leading an interactive panel on December 6 at 11:15 a.m. PST at the conference titled “Navigating the Changing Nature of the Data Center Market.” This discussion will explore the changing data center hosting market and the services offered, while focusing on aligning it to fit varying customer segment needs. Within the panel, we will be tapping the expertise and real-world experience of multiple enterprise IT and data center executives from the Uptime Institute and Schneider Electric.
With a growing number of data center providers offering long-term real estate leases and service agreements, monthly service contracts and other flexible options, defining and executing on an effective data center strategy can be daunting. To address this issue, my panel will examine how to determine a five-year data center capacity sourcing strategy while optimizing IT operations tools and technologies.
Please consider attending my panel if you plan on being in Las Vegas for the conference.
