SD-WAN monitoring

The SD-WAN portal offers many options for monitoring your services to help ensure optimal performance. Check out the video below for a brief overview. After you watch the video, scroll down to learn more about the Monitoring tab in the SD-WAN portal and how to use the information on the various tiles.

The Monitor tab displays the summary and granular information of its associated devices, along with their network health and service information:
 

  • customer organizations connecting to different core elements such as the controllers and different device types associated with the customer organization
  • map displaying the different core elements and devices’ location. Click on a device on the map to view the device details.
  • firmware summary of the associated devices
  • multiple device health summary with drill down functionality to view a list of devices with their status
  • alarm summary and drill-down functionality to view the list of devices with their respective events
  • application utilization of all the associated devices
  • subscribed services view for each customer organization
  • policy violations view for each customer organization

Select Monitor > Provider Organization > Customer Organization in the left panel to view the dashboard.

Tenant Summary tile

Select Monitor > Provider Organization > Customer Organization > Tenant Summary

The Tenant Summary tile shows the number of core elements associated and devices associated with the customer organization. The information includes the number of
 

  • controllers associated with the customer organization
  • hubs associated with the customer organization
  • branches associated with the customer organization
  • non-SD-WAN nodes such as routers, DHCP, NAT, and stand-alone security devices

To view the tenant information as a table, click Detail on the Tenant Summary tile. (To return to tile view, click Back.)

Map View tile

Select Monitor > Provider Organization > Customer Organization > Map View

The Map View tile displays the location of your customer organizations on a map:
 

  • controllers are shown in blue
  • branches are shown in green
  • hubs are shown in orange

Tenant Health tile

Select Monitor > Provider Organization > Customer Organization > Tenant Health

The Tenant Health tile displays the summary information of all the devices associated with the customer organization:
 

  • Config Sync Status: shows whether the Versa Director’s device configuration is in sync with the device.
  • Reachability Status: shows whether a device is reachable via ping or SSH from the Versa Director.
  • Service Status: shows whether all the device services are running in a good state.
  • Interfaces: shows the interfaces status up and down count with respect to LAN and WAN interfaces.
  • BGP Adjacencies: shows the number of BGP adjacencies in the established, connect, and idle state.
  • IKE Status: shows the number of IKE connections in the up and down state.
  • Paths: shows the number of paths with respect to devices associated in the up and down state.

To view more detail for a category, click the row for that category:

  • To go back to the Tenant Health summary view, click Back.
  • To search for a device, click the search icon.
  • To sort the data in ascending/descending order, click the sort icon.
  • To view the status for a device, click the row for the device. (The SD-WAN portal displays a status for the device.)

Policy Violations tile

Select Monitor > Provider Organization > Customer Organization > Policy Violations

The Policy Violations tile displays the total number of packets that violate the policies in the network with respect to the devices associated with the customer organization.

Recent Events tile

Select Monitor > Provider Organization > Customer Organization > Recent Events

This tile provides the summary of all the alarms across the customer organizations and the associated devices. Alarms have multiple levels: critical, major, minor, indeterminate, and warning. All alarms are clickable, which displays the device details of the related alarms.

To view the device information for each alarm type in a tabular view, click Details.

  • To select the columns you want to see in this view, click the column filter icon.
  • To filter the alarms you're viewing, click the alarms filter icon.
  • To go back to the tile view, click Back.

To view the history of the alarms raised or cleared for a device, click the blue hyperlink device name.

Ddi you know? You can filter events by severity level.

Firmware Summary tile

Select Monitor > Provider Organization > Child Organization > Firmware Summary

The Firmware Summary tile displays a summary of the number of devices along with their hardware and software version information.

Application Activity tile

Select Monitor > Provider Organization > Customer Organization > Application Activity

The Application Activity tile shows the 10 most-used applications on the device, based on the following parameters:
 

  • Sessions
  • Transactions
  • Total Bytes Forward
  • Total Bytes Reverse

To view application activity statistics, do the following:
 

  1. Click the settings icon.

  2. Select a parameter.

    The Application Activity graph displays the break-up for each application.

Services tile

Select Monitor > Provider Organization > Customer Organization > Services

The Services tile displays the total number of services that are running on each device for the customer organization and the associated devices.
