Business Support: VoIP

Transferring calls (VVX 300/400 series)

The transfer feature allows you to send active calls to individuals within your office, or to locations outside of your office such as mobile phones. Transfers can be done as either consultative or blind. One option allows you to speak to the party you are transferring to (consultative), the other does not allow you to announce the call (blind).

Consultative (supervised) transfer - consultative as default transfer type

This method of transferring allows you to speak to the party you are transferring to before releasing the call. If the party agrees to accept the transfer, you can complete the transfer. If the party chooses not to accept the call, you can cancel the transfer and return to the caller.

Both handset models provide you with access to a Transfer soft key and a Transfer button. The Transfer soft key is located at the bottom of your display; the Transfer button is located to the left of your keypad. Both transfer options work the same (so you can use either button).

  1. With a call in progress, press the Transfer soft key or Transfer button (located to the left of your keypad).

  2. On your keypad, enter the extension followed by the # key (or the 10-digit phone number) of the party you would like to transfer to.

  3. When the party answers, announce the call.

  4. If they agree to accept the call, press the Transfer soft key or Transfer button again.

  5. If the party declines the call, press the Cancel soft key to return to the caller. (You may need to press the More soft key to access the Cancel soft key.)

Blind (unsupervised) transfer - consultative as default transfer type

When performing a blind transfer you cannot announce your call. The party you are transferring to will either answer or the caller will go to voicemail.

  1. With a call in progress, press and hold down the Transfer soft key or Transfer button (located to the left of your keypad).

  2. Use the down navigation key to highlight Blind, then press the Select soft key.

  3. On your keypad, enter the extension followed by the # key (or the 10-digit phone number) of the party you would like to transfer to.

Your transfer is processed. If the party does not answer the transfer, the caller will go to the party’s voicemail or follow any other call treatment or forwarding path that may be in place.

Did you know? Your default transfer type is determined by your company administrator. There are settings on your device that allow you to change your default transfer setting should you choose. Most handsets are programmed with consultative as the default transfer type.
