How to suspend or cancel your Verizon Wireless service
There are a lot of reasons you might need to stop (or start) your Verizon Wireless service. For instance, maybe you've lost your phone, found your phone, had your phone stolen or are moving to a different area.
Suspending your service
You can temporarily suspend service for any device on your account.
Suspending your service turns off the device's access to the Verizon Wireless network making voice, text and data features unavailable. In certain circumstances, this can be very beneficial.
Depending why you're making the request, Verizon can suspend your service for 30 to 90 days. There's no charge to do this, and it only takes a few minutes.
To suspend your service, go online and follow the prompts. When you've successfully suspended your service, you'll see a confirmation page. If you don't see this page, your service has not been suspended. (Note: If you'd prefer, you can call 1-800-922-0204 (from any phone) and follow the automated prompts to temporarily suspend your account.)
IMPORTANT: Unless you cancel your service, once your suspension period expires, your service will automatically be restored.
Reconnecting your service
You can reconnect service on your current device or a new one.
To restart service on your current device, sign in to My Verizon, select your mobile number, click Next and then Submit. When you've successfully reconnected service, you'll see a confirmation page. (It may take up to an hour before your service is fully re-established and you can use it.)
To connect your service to a new device, sign in to My Verizon, select your mobile number, click Next, select "I have a new or replacement phone. I would like to reconnect service by activating my replacement phone," and follow the prompts until you see a confirmation page. (More details)
