Welcome to CenturyLink® Prism™ TV! We appreciate your business and we want you to know what you can expect during your installation. Here we'll tell you about the installation process, what you need to do before your installation appointment, and show where you can get more information. We want to make sure you're getting the most from your Prism experience.
What you can expect during installation
You received your appointment date and time when you ordered Prism. You can chat with Customer Service up to 24 hours before your appointment time to reschedule.
A technician will come to your home to check the wiring outside your home -- 24 to 48 hours before your appointment. Now, you don't need to be home for this, but the technician will need access to the outside of your home for a short amount of time. You may have no phone service while this pre-work is being done.
We'll leave a door-hanger on your door letting you know we've been there. The door-hanger also includes your appointment time and a checklist of things you need to do before your appointment -- like making sure the technician can access existing cable wall outlets and your attic.
The installation appointment usually takes between 4 and 6 hours. Please review the checklist for the full list of things you need to do to ensure a smooth installation and no delays.
Day of your installation
On the day of your installation, a Prism technician will arrive and go over the installation process with you before starting any work. Then, you and the technician will walk through your home to go over all the locations where equipment needs to be installed. This includes all the televisions and computers that you've selected.
Next, the technician will evaluate the wiring inside your home to determine if existing wiring can be used or if additional wiring needs to be done.
Once the technician has a complete understanding of all the work that needs to be done, he will review the order with you and confirm the exact placement of the equipment.
After these initial surveys and reviews are done, the technician will begin installation.
First, he will install the wireless router or gateway and activate your Internet service. Then, he will install the set-top boxes and DVR for your Prism TV service.
