The Qwest QMPL Solution

Qwest Metro Private Line (QMPL) provides competitively priced metro private lines at speeds ranging from DS-1 to OC-192. Customers can connect two or more locations within the same metropolitan area with QMPL high quality, reliable and scalable service. Qwest also connects metropolitan networks to our international backbone to meet long distance and Internet needs. Qwest enables customers to extend their network reach within 42 metros across the U.S.

Qwest Corporation Local Exchange Offerings

In addition to the services presented above, Qwest Corporation (QC) is the Local Exchange Carrier in 14 states. In these states, QC offers additional services that it can provide on an intra-LATA only basis:

• SHNS - Qwest Self Healing Network Services is a failure-resistant, private telecommunications network that provides high-capacity digital services between multiple customer-designated premises. Designed to minimize network downtime, SHNS provides business continuation, disaster recovery and survivability and is ideally suited to a wide range of multi-location data, video, voice and Ethernet applications.
• SST- Qwest Synchronous Service Transport (SST) is a point to point, broadband, shared Private Line solution that provides a reliable high-capacity connection for the transfer of large volumes of data.

The Qwest Advantage

Our SONET-based systems are a high-capacity, 100% fiber optic network deployed in a ring configuration. The system employs a "working" path carrying data in one direction, and a "protect" path transporting information in the opposite direction around the ring. The ring topology continually monitors service quality, detects any failure or degradation, and automatically self-heals to ensure uninterrupted transmission flow. Rerouting is accomplished within 50 milliseconds.
