Requesting Tone on Line

If you are a CLEC, you can have a tone put on the unbundled loop of a UNE for which you've submitted a request. The tone helps your technician identify your customer's cable pair.

You may request Tone on Line only if CenturyLink's service order has been completed—that is, its status is CP or PP. The tone lasts for two minutes, so your technician must be at the termination point and ready to identify the unbundled loop when you submit the request for Tone on Line. If you've already submitted a request for Tone on Line, you must wait five minutes before submitting another request, and you may submit no more than three requests in 30 calendar days.

  1. Click the NON DESIGN tab.

  1. Click the MLT subtab.

  1. Type the telephone number for the line on which you want to place the tone.

  2. From the Test Type list, select Tone.

  3. Click Submit.

  4. To ensure that the tone has actually been placed on the line, click the TRANSACTION HISTORY tab. When the transaction status is Completed, click the radio button next to the telephone number for the circuit.

A new window shows the telephone number you entered and the status as Tone on Line.
