Copyright and DMCA Policy

Lumen Technologies, Inc. respects the intellectual property rights of others and is committed to complying with U.S. copyright laws, including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (“DMCA”).  The DMCA provides recourse for owners of copyrighted material who believe their rights under U.S. copyright law have been infringed on the internet.  The following defines the Digital Millennium Copyright Act Policy (the “Policy”) of Lumen Technologies, Inc. (“Lumen”--collectively including parent companies, subsidiaries, and affiliates), relating to the use of Lumen’s network, websites, systems, facilities, and products and services.

This Policy applies to any services provided by Lumen’s subsidiary or affiliate operating companies, including services provided under the CenturyLink, Quantum Fiber, Qwest and Level 3 brands and any other services whose Acceptable Use Policies link to this page.

Lumen reserves the right to suspend or terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the service of users whose accounts are repeatedly implicated in allegations of copyright infringement.  If you believe that any activity on Lumen’s network violates your copyrights, please submit a notification pursuant to the DMCA by providing the following information:

  • Signature.  A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed;

  • Identification of Copyrighted Work(s).  Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works at a single online site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site;

  • Identification of Infringing Material.  Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit Lumen to locate the material;

  • Contact Information for Complaining Party.  Information reasonably sufficient to permit Lumen to contact the complaining party, such as address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail address at which the complaining party may be contacted;

  • Good Faith Statement.  A statement that the complaining party has a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and

  • Statement Under Perjury.  A statement that the information in the notification is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Please note that Lumen, through its subsidiary and affiliate operating companies, is a service provider of transitory digital network communications as contemplated by 17 U.S.C. § 512(a) of the DMCA. It is therefore not obligated to respond to any demands regarding, and has no duty to block, remove, or disable access to, material that is transmitted over, routed over or via connections to Lumen’s network(s), by a user or at a user’s direction or initiation. Given the large volume of such notifications it processes, Lumen does not respond to status inquiries made in connection with any individual notification or series of notifications.
