John Cassidy has more than seventeen years of industry experience with strong competencies in telecommunications engineering, information technology, sales and business development, and the last six years focused primarily on strategic cybersecurity efforts to drive and develop key public-private Federal Government cybersecurity initiatives.
Mr. Cassidy's current efforts are primarily focused on continuing to develop several key cybersecurity initiatives in partnership with Senior Government leadership from DHS and Intelligence Agencies. Mr. Cassidy has been instrumental and actively engaged in developing, promoting, and implementing the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) pilot since the programs inception. Three years of work has led to the transition of a 90-day pilot into a full operational program and system known as the DHS Enhanced Cybersecurity Service (ECS). ECS was approved under Executive Order PPD-21, part of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, with an intention to help protect the sixteen defined critical infrastructure companies in the United States with advanced cybersecurity services. Mr. Cassidy continues to provide regular insight and feedback from a unique private sector position to Senior Government leadership on ways the ECS program can be better positioned for future successes to protect the United States Critical Infrastructure companies.
In parallel to the efforts on ECS, Mr. Cassidy has and continues to be actively engaged with DHS and Intelligence Agencies on the development and creation of custom managed security services that will be provided to Federal Civilian Agencies through the DHS Einstein 3 Accelerated (E3A) contract. The E3A contract was awarded to CenturyLink Government in April 2013, making CenturyLink the first Internet Services Provider (ISP) to be awarded a four year IDIQ contract. Through Mr. Cassidy's efforts and the team at CenturyLink, CenturyLink now provides active protections to multiple Federal Civilian Agencies and close to 500k end-users through the E3A system.
Mr. Cassidy is leading and continuing to grow the cybersecurity division at CenturyLink Government. Mr. Cassidy is a contributing member for building overall CenturyLink corporate strategy to create a cybersecurity practice, consisting of targeted managed security solutions and services for the Federal channel, and commercial enterprise channels.
Prior to joining CenturyLink Government in 2007, Cassidy was a lead solutions architect for Verizon Federal, where Cassidy supported the Department of Defense (DOD) and International markets segment. Cassidy has also been employed previously as a lead engineer and solutions architect with UUNet and MCI Federal.
Mr. Cassidy holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Information Systems Management from the George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business from James Madison University. He is a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), DC Chapter. Mr. Cassidy is also a member of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA), and a participating committee member on the Cyber Task Force.
