CenturyLink® SD-WAN with Cisco Meraki

As we set up your SD-WAN service, use this guide to follow the process step by step and to know where we'll need your help.

Technical data gathering

A CenturyLink technical design engineer will contact you to discuss technical details related to your activation if you opt to self-install or collect any necessary technical data to activate your service.

The engineer may ask you to confirm the following:

  • LAN and WAN interface IPs
  • firewall features (URL Filtering, IPS)
  • LAN routing
  • any other IPSEC tunnels to non-SD WAN devices

Once you confirm the technical data, CenturyLink will preconfigure the CenturyLink SD-WAN with Cisco Meraki device and ship to the location where the device will be installed (unless otherwise specified). We'll send the tracking numbers for this shipment to you by email.

Quick start—installing and turning on your CenturyLink SD-WAN with Cisco Meraki device

Before you install the device, make sure you record the serial number for each device (in case your activation engineer needs the information during your activation). You can find the serial number on the bottom of the device.

Meraki MX68CW serial number location
Meraki MX100 serial number location

Quick start using LTE (available only for the MX68CW device)

  1. Unpack the SD-WAN Meraki device(s) from the shipping box.

  2. If applicable, mount the device to the rack.

  3. Turn on the SD-WAN Meraki device.

The embedded SIM should automatically connect to the LTE network. The status indicator should turn solid purple indicating that the device is fully operational, connected, and that the uplink is actively using integrated cellular. When the LTE is not enabled, the status indicator will be white.

Quick start using an internet WAN connection

Activating your SD-WAN with Cisco Meraki service

On the day we activate your service, your SD-WAN Meraki activation engineer may need to verify the serial number of the device.

A CenturyLink SD-WAN Meraki activation engineer will have preconfigured your CenturyLink SD-WAN with Cisco Meraki service prior to the activation call based on the information reviewed during the technical data gathering step.

The CenturyLink SD-WAN Meraki activation engineer leads the activating call and follows this process:

  1. The engineer validates the configuration has been downloaded to the device.

  2. The engineer validates that traffic can be passed between the Meraki devices.

  3. The engineer completes a test plan to confirm successful activation and note that the site-installation technician has completed their work.
