Creating a connection between a My Location endpoint and Microsoft Azure

You can create a Dynamic Connection between a My Location endpoint and Microsoft Azure. To create the connection, you'll need an ExpressRoute service key from Microsoft. Be sure to have that information handy to type in (or copy/paste).

Microsoft Azure requires two EVCs to make the connection (which MyLevel3 will create when you build the connection). You'll only be billed for one; the other is for redundancy.

Note: You can only use a service key that isn't assigned to an active connection.

To create a dynamic connection between a My Location endpoint and Microsoft Azure:

  1. From the main menu, select Orders > Dynamic Connections.

MyLevel3 lists all your connections with a status and brief summary for each connection.

  1. Click Create Connection.
  1. In the From Connection Type field, select My Location(s).

  2. In the To Connection Type field, select Microsoft (Azure).
  1. Fill in the information for the connection:

    1. From the From Location list, select the connection origination endpoint from the list.

    2. In the Outer SVLAN Tag Primary and Outer Outer SVLAN Tag Secondary fields, type an unused VLAN ID (between 1 and 4095). The primary and secondary IDs can't be the same. (If you type in a VLAN ID and it's already in use, MyLevel3 highlights it in red.)

    3. In the ExpressRoute Service Key field, type or copy and paste your ExpressRoute service key provided by Microsoft. (Note: You can only use a service key that isn't assigned to an active connection.)

Once you fill in the ExpressRoute service key, MyLevel3 retrieves connection information from Microsoft.

    4. In the Bandwidth field, select the bandwidth for the connection. By default, MyLevel3 selects the lowest bandwidth associated with the service key you entered. You can adjust the bandwidth up/down based on your needs.

MyLevel3 displays pricing for the bandwidth you selected.

    5. In the Connection Name field, type a name for the connection you're creating.

  2. Click Next.
  1. Review your connection information, then click the I agree with the terms and conditions checkbox. (To enable the checkbox, scroll to the bottom of the terms and conditions.)

  2. Click Create Connection.

MyLevel3 creates the request for the connection. From here, you can either view the status of your request (click the list link) or close the window (click Close) to do something else in MyLevel3.
