Using the function buttons on your phone (VVX 50x/60x series)

Function buttons allow you to use a headset, speakerphone, enable mute, and adjust volume settings.

Headset button

After you've connected your headset to your phone, you're ready to make or receive calls using your headset button. If you primarily use your headset, you can turn on headset memory so your headset is automatically enabled when you make or receive calls.

To use the headset button:

  1. To answer an incoming call, press the Headset button.

The button turns solid green to indicate your headset is active.

  1. To disconnect a call while using your headset, press the Headset button again.

Speakerphone button

All phones have speaker capabilities.

To use the Speakerphone button:

  1. To answer an incoming call, press the Speakerphone button.

The Speakerphone button glows solid green to let you know your speakerphone is on.

  2. To disconnect a call while using speakerphone, press the Speakerphone button again.

Did you know? If you begin your call with your handset, you can move to the headset or speakerphone by pressing the Headset or Speakerphone button, and then return the handset to the cradle. To move a call from headset to speakerphone to the handset, lift the handset.

Mute button

Microphones are very sensitive. We recommend you mute your phone while on conference calls or if you need to speak to others around you.

To use the mute button:

  1. While on an active call, press the Mute button.

When in mute button glows red when the phone is muted.

  2. To unmute a call, press the Mute button again.

Did you know? When you mute your phone, you will continue to hear people on the call, but they will not hear you.

Volume control

Adjust volume levels by pressing + or on the volume control button. Use the volumn control button to control volume levels for:

  • incoming call ring volume—press the + or button while your phone is idle
  • handset volume—press the + or button while you're using your handset on a call or by lifting the handset while your phone is idle
  • speaker volume—press the + or button while using the speaker on a call or by pressing the Speakerphone button while your phone is idle
  • headset volume—press the + or button while using your headset on a call or by pressing the Headset button while your phone is idle

Did you know? When you increase or decrease the volume, it remains at that setting until you change it again (or until your phone reboots). If your phone reboots, all volume settings return to their default levels.
