Routing

You can configure different routing settings on your CenturyLink modem. Learn how to set up dynamic or static routing.

Dynamic routing, also called adaptive routing, enables your router to direct traffic dynamically, based on the specific conditions of the network system.

Note:  Dynamic routing can only be used if a router is set up behind the modem.

Select Dynamic Routing in the left sidebar, under Routing.

Dynamic Routing Step 5

Follow the steps to edit the Dynamic Routing settings.

  • Step 1:  Enable dynamic routing.

  • Step 2:  Choose Version 1 or Version 2 for the Dynamic Routing Type.

  • Step 3:  Click "Apply" to save your settings.
Dynamic Routing Step 6

Static Routing allows you to add routers manually to the routing table.

Important note:  If a change or a failure occurs between two nodes, traffic will not be rerouted until the problem is resolved by the administrator.

Select Static Routing in the left sidebar under Routing.

Static Routing Step 5

Follow the steps to edit the Static Routing settings.

  • Step 1:  Set the IP addressing type to IPv4 or IPv6, depending on your IP setup.

  • Step 2:  Enter the Destination IP, Subnetmask, and Gateway IP.

  • Step 3:  Click "Apply" to save your changes.
