Turning Dial by name on and off

As an administrator, you can give users the ability to direct dial colleagues using the dialpad on their phone to type the name of the person they want to reach. You can allow users to dial by name during business hours, after hours, or both.

Turn Dial by Name on

To allow users to dial by name to call other users within your organization, you need to turn the feature on.
To turn Dial by Name on:
  1. Click the Advanced Services tab. 
  1. Click Auto Attendants
  1. From the Actions list, select Edit Service

The Incoming Call tab opens.

  1. Click the Menu tab.   
  1. To turn Dial by Name on during business hours, select the Business Hours checkbox.
  1. From the Not Used list, select Dial by name
  1. To turn Dial by Name on after hours, select the After Hours checkbox, then click the After Hours tab.
  1. From the Not Used list, select Dial by name
  1. Click Save

Turn Dial by Name off

When you no longer wish to allow users to call their colleagues by typing a person's name using the dialpad on their phone, you can turn Dial by Name off. Turn the feature off during business hours, after hours, or both.
To turn Dial by Name off:
  1. Click the Advanced Services tab. 
  1. Click Auto Attendants
  1. From the Actions list, select Edit Service

The Incoming Call tab opens.

  1. Click the Menu tab.   
  1. Click the After Hours tab. 
  1. To turn Dial by Name off after hours, deselect the After Hours checkbox.
  1. From the Dial by name list, select Not Used
  1. Click the Business Hours tab. 
  1. Deselect the Business Hours checkbox.
  1. From the Dial by name list, select Not Used
  1. Click Save
