Abbreviations

The abbreviations used in the Qwest CEMR application, including Street Type and State abbreviations are listed below.

Directional Abbreviations
Central, Western, and Eastern

Single Directions	Double Directions
Single directions must be abbreviated to one alphabetic character. N - North E - East S - South W - West	Double directions must not include a space. NE – Northeast SE – Southeast NW – Northwest SW – Southwest
Exceptions
Central
Single directions as part of the street name or at the end of a street name must be spelt out. 12 NORTH FORK RD 300 N 200 SOUTH	Double directions at the end of a street name must be abbreviated and must include a space. JAMES AV N W Double directions preceding the street name are abbreviated: S E OPAL
Western
If a street name is a single alphabetic character and there is a directional, the directional must be spelled in full. 12 NORTH A	A double directional at the end of a street name must be abbreviated and must not include a space. JAMES AV NW Double directions preceding the street name are abbreviated: S E OPAL
Eastern
Single directions as part of the street name or at the end of a street name must be spelt out. 12 NORTH FORK RD 300 N 200 SOUTH	A double directional at the end of a street name must be abbreviated and must not include a space.
