          Transit Traffic

Transit Traffic is where three or more exchange carriers (Local/EAS Services and IntraLATA Toll) are involved in a call. One carrier originates the call (Carrier A), the call then transits one or more other carriers (Carrier B, Carrier B1 and B2, etc.), and a different Carrier terminates the call (Carrier C). In cases of transit traffic, calls may be transported as shown in the following two examples.

When one of the carriers in the call pattern is an IXC, the traffic is not considered Transit Traffic, it is considered Jointly Provided Switch Access (JPSA).
