          TRE Summary

You have completed the LIS Transit Record Exchange Module. Here’s a recap of what you have learned:

  • Transit traffic is where three or more exchange carriers are involved in a call. Records may be exchanged in instances of transit traffic

  • Transit traffic applies to Exchange Service (Local/EAS) and Exchange Access (IntraLATA non-IXC Toll).

  • Responsibilities of the originating carrier include 1) paying the transiting and terminating carriers for the functions performed by their networks and 2) distributing records to the terminating and transiting carriers.

  • At this time, CenturyLink may provide transit records for Wireless and Wireline originated calls that transit CenturyLink and terminate to Wireline companies.
