On a limited income? You can save with Lifeline services from CenturyLink. This government assistance program can help you save on your monthly local phone service service or broadband service of at least 10Mbps download speed or 1Mbps upload speed or higher.

Services Provided

CenturyLink's Lifeline service provides access to voice, broadband, emergency and operator services, directory assistance and toll limitation for qualifying low-income consumers.

Unlimited local usage within CenturyLink's defined local calling areas is provided as part of the plan. Additional charges may apply for expanded local calling options.

Long distance charges may be assessed by your long distance carrier - please consult your long distance carrier for rates and charges that may apply.

Customers can also apply the discounts to their broadband that meets the Lifeline requirements of at least 10Mbps download speed with 1Mbps upload speed or higher.

Only one Lifeline discount is allowed per household.

Lifeline Discounts

Lifeline provides a discount on monthly service for qualified subscribers in Wisconsin. Residents of American Indian tribal lands may qualify for up to an additional $25 of enhanced Lifeline support monthly. They may also qualify for the Link-Up program, which helps tribal consumers pay the initial installation costs of obtaining telephone or broadband service. Link-Up provides a credit of up to $100 for the initial installation charges for tribal consumers.

How to Qualify?

Federal + State Discounts

Qualifying customers (or a qualifying member of a household) in Wisconsin must participate in one of the following programs to receive both the Federal and State Lifeline discounts::

An individual living on tribal lands may qualify for Lifeline and Link-Up discounts if he or she participates in one of the programs listed above, the Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribally Administered Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations; or the Head Start program (only for those households meeting its income qualifying standard).

Please be aware that only one Lifeline discount may be received per household, even if the household has more than one telephone or broadband account, including landline or wireless phone service. Lifeline service is not transferable, and only eligible consumers may enroll in the program. Documentation of eligibility is required to enroll. Consumers who willfully make false statements in order to obtain Lifeline telephone service can be punished by fine or imprisonment and can be barred from the program.

State Only Discount

Qualifying customers (or a qualifying member of a household) in Wisconsin who participate in one of the following programs will be eligible for the State discount only:

Wisconsin Broadband Lifeline for Disabled Customers

Customers in Wisconsin with a disability that prevents them from using voice communications may apply for the Broadband Lifeline program. Applications for this program must include certification of the stated disability by a proper authority. This program provides Lifeline discounts on Broadband services that would replace any voice services in the residence.
