Caller ID Blocking - V7.0

History Log

Product Description

Caller ID Blocking prevents the telephone number from being delivered to the Caller ID subscriber. It does not block information from being forwarded when calling 911, 800/888 Wide Area Telephone Service (WATS) numbers or 900 numbers. The words "Private" or "Anonymous" appear on the display unit or telephone set display screen when Caller ID Blocking is in effect.

Caller ID Blocking may be provided:

  • Per line
  • Per call

Per Line Blocking continuously prevents name and/or telephone number from being displayed to a Caller ID subscriber.

The following activation and deactivation code information is applicable for Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) and Centrex 21 products. Centrex Plus, Centrex Prime and Centron products code information can be obtained from your CenturyLink Sales Executive for new accounts or CenturyLink Service Manager for existing accounts.

Lines equipped with Per Line Blocking are automatically equipped with One Call Unblock. One Call Unblock allows Per Line Blocking end-users to "deactivate" or "unblock" their privacy status on a per call basis by dialing *82 from a touchtone phone, or 1182 from a rotary phone, prior to placing an outgoing call.

No special feature operations are necessary to operate Caller ID Blocking - Per Line. All outgoing calls are automatically prevented from being displayed to a Caller ID end-user.

End-users may not turn the feature on and off. It can be installed or removed only through a service request.

Blocking - Per Line is available to any end-user upon request.

Per Call Blocking must be activated each time you want to prevent your name and/or telephone number from being displayed to a Caller ID subscriber.

Per Call Blocking Caller ID has been added at no charge to all end-user access lines in the SS7 Signaling System 7 area.

To activate Caller ID Blocking Per Call:

  • Dial *67 from a touchtone phone or 1167 from a rotary telephone.
    • End-users will hear a short stutter dial tone followed by a second dial tone.
  • Dial the distant telephone number.
    • A "privacy message" is displayed to a Caller ID subscriber for that call only.

Availability

Caller ID Blocking is available in selected 5ESS, DMS™-10 and DMS-100, and Ericsson/AXE central office (CO) switch types where Caller ID/Custom Local Area Signaling Services (CLASS™) products are available.
