History Log

Product Description

Frame Relay Service is a digital technology that can provide you high speed connectivity between Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs). Based on your application requirements, you can allocate circuit bandwidth up to the maximum bandwidth requested. Transmission speeds are available up to 44.736 Megabits per second (Mpbs).

With FRS, you can also aggregate traffic on a single access connection to interface with your own Frame Relay network. Using a network to network interface, you can manage your capacity, as well as serve your customers.

Frame Relay Service requires the use of customer-provided equipment (CPE) that functions as multiplexer/bridger/router. This equipment must be purchased separately from FRS and must conform to Telecommunications Standardization section of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU-t) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards set forth in technical publications. The equipment accumulates customer data and puts into a format suitable for transmission over the CenturyLink™'s Frame Relay Service network.

Frame Relay Service conforms to ITU-T and ANSI standards identified in ANSI technical documents and are also identified in the Technical Publication, Frame Relay Service, 77372.

Customer Network Management (CNM) is a feature that provides your end-user with read-only access to information related to service faults, usage and FRS configurations. CNM includes a PVC that is dedicated to the feature and does not include the PVCs available to your end-user on a per port basis.

Frame Relay to Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Interworking allows Frame Relay and ATM customers to communicate with each other, by transferring customer information transparently between a Frame Relay and ATM network.

Fault Tolerant PVC (Oregon only). Fault Tolerant FRS is an enhancement to Frame Relay Service to provide customer fast disaster recovery at a failed location. The Fault Tolerant service feature reroutes customer's PVCs from the out-of-service primary location to customer's backup location that has the Fault Tolerant Frame Relay Access Link (FRAL) installed.
