CR PM: Lorence, Susan
Description Of Change
CenturyLink will be migrating from the current Java (1.5) server-side version to a new version of Java (1.6), which might impact IMA WEB Application and IMA-XML PUSH users. The IMA GUI and most XML users (90%) will not be impacted. The IMA-GUI Java was updated to the 1.6 browser-side version last year.

Our web pages will be certified to support Windows Java version 1.5.9 through 1.6.3 including XP and Win7 running IE8 (IE9 running in IE8 compatibility mode). Windows 7 will be completed and certified by the end of August.

Note: CEMR and CEMR-MTG will be migrating in a similar fashion by the end of 2013.

Estimated implementation - late July, early August 2013

Project Meetings

3/20/13 System Monthly Meeting Jim Rearden – CenturyLink reviewed the attachment associated with this CR that was posted to the calendar entry at http://wholesalecalendar.centurylinkapps.com/detail/389/2013-03-20. Jim said last year, CenturyLink updated the Browser side of Java and was now going to update the server side of Java. The version of Java determines screen display. Jim said he created the Java Upgrade Comparison document to show what Java versions work with what versions of Windows XP, Windows 7 and Internet Explorer (IE) and what is forward and backward compatible. Jim said Windows 7 does not support IE 6. Jim said the IMA GUI is currently certified at 1.6.0 and will be moving forward to 1.6.0.39. Jim said CenturyLink is looking at supporting Windows 7 on IE 8 in 2013 which is the most stable version and is what is most common and what CenturyLink plans to hold on for compatibility. Jim referred to Page 5 of the document for where CenturyLink will be moving in 2014 which is to even newer versions. See the document for the content of what Jim reviewed.

Laurie Roberson – Integra asked if Jim was able to review the trouble ticket that had been identified the prior month.

Jim Rearden – CenturyLink said he would need to go back and look at it again but that he thought he had responded to the IT Help Desk (ITHD) on it. Jim said on one trouble ticket he had reviewed related to converting to Windows 7, customers must download the client certificate first and follow some specific steps. Jim suggested that if customers were having issues, they should contact the CenturyLink ITHD as they have a Job Aid to assist. Jim said he thought that was the trouble ticket that had been brought up previously and that it was not a technical issue. Jim said he would go back and review the trouble ticket and insure it had been resolved. Mark Coyne – CenturyLink asked if there were any additional questions. There were none. Mark said that CenturyLink will be disclosing this CR with the IMA 34.0 release but would then send out a 30 day Systems notice to relay the plan to implement this CR for the JAVA upgrade in late August.

Jim Rearden – CenturyLink said the reason that CenturyLink was implementing in late August was to separate any Java issues from release issues in the October release.

Susan Lorence – CenturyLink said that this is not a Point Release per the CMP document which requires a 73 day release notice which implies developer worksheet updates, etc. Susan said the plan is to send a 30 System reminder notification to relay the planned effective date of August 31, 2013 but that there are no CLEC coding changes for this CR.

Kim Isaacs – Integra said the notice would say the CR is going in with an effective date.

Jim Rearden – CenturyLink said CenturyLink would also send an Event Notice that would provide a Job aide for reference.

2/20/13 System Monthly Meeting Denise Martinez – CenturyLink presented this new CR which is to upgrade IMA to JAVA server-side version 1.6. Denise said that CenturyLink is planning to implement the JAVA upgrade in late July or early August with CEMR and CEMR-MTG migration likely the end of 2013. Denise said there does not appear to be any CLEC coding changes but the CR might impact IMA Web and IMA-XML PUSH users. Denise asked if there were any questions.

Kim Isaacs – Integra said Integra has an open trouble ticket associated with accessing resale LSRs that Integra has been told is related to a JAVA compatibility issue. Kim asked if this CR will resolve that trouble ticket which occurs sporadically.

Jim Rearden – CenturyLink responded that this JAVA upgrade should resolve the trouble ticket but wanted to look at the trouble ticket to include the conditions in testing.

Laurie Roberson – Integra said the trouble ticket number is HD5976055 and Angie Cox – CenturyLink (from the CenturyLink Wholesale System Help Desk) is familiar with the problem.

Jeff Sonnier – Sprint wanted to make sure PULL users were not impacted.

Jim Rearden – CenturyLink said if a customer does not initiate a transaction then they should not be impacted. He said the GUI screen may look strange on a PULL. Jim said some customers have asked when CenturyLink would become Windows 7 compatible and said that we are becoming more current. CenturyLink is doing compatibility testing and more information would be provided in the March meeting.

Jeff Sonnier – Sprint said they have an app to app but they do nothing with GUI.

Jim Rearden – CenturyLink said there should be no issue. CenturyLink is updating the backend JAVA.

Mark Coyne – CenturyLink asked if there were any other questions. There were none. Mark said CenturyLink will disclose this CR with IMA Release 34.0 but was planning to implement the JAVA upgrade in late August via a 30 day system notice. He said the IMA Commitment document in the package had been updated to reflect this CR. There would be more discussion in March.

Discussion under ATTACHMENT M Mark Coyne – CenturyLink said the list was revised to add the JAVA CR previously discussed in addition to the other two CRs on the list: SCR050812-1X, CenturyLink’s recognition of to be decommissioned copper routes, and the SCR101111-4IG which is the LSOG Phase 2 CR. Mark said the IMA Release 34 is scheduled for production on May 20, 2013.
