Description Of Change
CenturyLink will be migrating from the current Java (1.6) used for server-side and browser-side version to a newer more secure version of Java (Java 1.7).

Our web pages will be certified to support Windows Java version (Java 1.7) through a newer secure Internet Explorer.

This might impact the following IMA Applications: IMA-GUI, IMA-XML and IMA-SATE.

NOTE: Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP after 4/8/2014. Therefore, IMA will no longer support XP after IMA release 36 (4/21/2014), but will support Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Expected Deliverables/Proposed Implementation Date: Sometime in August 2014

Project Meetings

7/16/14 System Monthly CMP Meeting Mark Coyne – CenturyLink said this CR was moved to CLEC Test on June 29 when the technical upgrade to the IMA-GUI went into effect. Mark said we would like to move this CR to a Completed status and asked if there were any objections. There were none.

6/18/14 System Monthly CMP Meeting UNDER ATTACHMENT I Mark Coyne – CenturyLink said a system notification was sent June 6 to relay the planned technical upgrade to IMA-GUI to be effective on June 29. The IMA-GUI Upgrade will support Java 1.7 as well as Internet Explorer IE-10 and it will continue to support Java 1.630 and IE 9.

Jim Rearden – CenturyLink reminded everyone of the Java security change that was reviewed in the May meeting and the link to more details about the change on the internet. Jim said the update was simple and described what would happen the first time that the security pop-up occurs. Jim asked if there were any questions? There were none.

UNDER ATTACHMENT K Mark Coyne – CenturyLink said this CR was just discussed and would become effective on June 29.

5/21/14 System Monthly CMP Meeting Jim Rearden – CenturyLink provided an update on this CR and reviewed a matrix included in the CMP package. He said the planned technical upgrade to IMA-GUI will be on June 29 to support Java 1.7 as well as Internet Explorer IE-10. The same IMA-GUI Upgrade will continue to support Java 1.630 and IE 9. Jim said based on CenturyLink testing, there appear to be no issues with Java 1.7 and 1.6 as relayed in the matrix. Jim said there are notes on the internet on Java 1.7 that provide information on this upgrade. Jim said he would have this included in the meeting notes.

NOTE: Here is some additional information on Java 1.7 from Jim that he relayed he would share in the meeting minutes during the call.

– Reminder: Java 1.7 u51 VS Java 1.7 u25 /Java 1.6 – See SUN/Oracle Java New security requirements for RIAs in 7u51 (January 2014) • Google Search: java 7u51 permission for RIAs – Java New security requirements for RIAs in 7u51 (January 2014) RIAs(Rich Internet Applications) = Java Applets / Java startup – IMA-GUI has always included a Java Applet code which runs on your desktop to edit and verify data fields / formats – Java 1.7 u51 will consider applet code NOT trusted if that code is not digitally signed unlike Java 1.7 u25 or before – On June 29th our Java Applet code must meet the tighter Java 1.7 u51 and IE-10 Browser SECURITY requirements of Trusted / Signed code. This Applet code will be digitally signed with a Trusted 3rd party CA Code-Signing Certificate

Mark Coyne – CenturyLink asked if there were any questions. There were none.

3/19/14 System CMP Meeting Jim Rearden – CenturyLink said we provided an update for IMA Release 36 last month that CenturyLink will only support Java 1.6.30. XP support would end April 8. Jim said CenturyLink is doing a lot of testing in association with this. Jim said Java 1.7 will likely occur at the end of August but it is still being looked at. Jim asked if there were any questions. There were none.

2/19/14 System CMP Meeting Jim Rearden – CenturyLink provided a brief status about the plans for this Java CR. Jim said for IMA Release 36, CenturyLink will only support Java 1.6 which is what he thought most customers are on and that will be the official GUI version. Jim said Java 1.7 will occur after IMA Release 36 but that CenturyLink is performing significant forward and backward testing and will provide more information about this in the March CMP meeting along with IE9 and IE10 information. Jim asked if there were any questions. There were none.

12/11/13 System CMP Meeting Jim Rearden – CenturyLink presented this new CR and said several customers have asked about Java security. Jim relayed the CR indicates the implementation date is August but partial implementation could be as early as April for the GUI side if testing goes well. Jim said similar to the previous Java upgrade, CenturyLink will provide a Job Aid that identifies testing and tool compatibility. Jim asked if there were any questions. There were none.
