Getting started with the basics of Digital Home Phone

Congratulations on purchasing CenturyLink Digital Home Phone service! You're really going to enjoy what we have to offer you. We've outlined easy, basic set up tips so can you quickly start using your service:

  • Identifying my phone number
  • Updating your 911 Address

Identifying My Phone Number

There are multiple ways to determine your Digital Home Phone telephone number.

Communicator Dashboard

You can quickly find what your Digital Home Phone telephone number by logging into the Communicator Dashboard. Your phone number will be displayed in the upper-right corner.

For further information about accessing the Communicator Dashboard, refer to the Accessing the CenturyLink Communicator Dashboard section on the Digital Home Phone Quick Start Set Up page.

Monthly Bill

Refer to the Digital Home Phone section of your CenturyLink monthly bill to locate your Digital Home Phone telephone.

Modifying/Updating Your 911 Address

With Digital Home Phone, you will always have only one registered physical location for purposes of 911 dialing. Your 911 Address is the one we will pass on to the 911 Operator in the instance you place a call to 911 from your Digital Home Phone service. We default to your initial service address that you provided to us during ordering, but if you're planning to periodically use the service somewhere other than your initial address, you will need to follow the steps below to alert us to your new location so that we can send the appropriate address to the 911 Operator.

Accessing the Communicator Dashboard to Change Your 911 Address

1.  Login to the Communicator Dashboard

Access the Communicator Dashboard by going to https://communicator.centurylink.com/.For further information about accessing the Communicator Dashboard, refer to the .Accessing the CenturyLink Communicator Dashboard. section on the Digital Home Phone Quick Start Set Up page

2.  Navigate to the 911 Address

Press the 911 Address tab to access the section where you can add a new address, or modify and existing one.

3.  Manage your 911

In the 911 Address tab you have the ability to Add, Delete, or Edit 911 addresses. We currently allow you to store up to 3 addresses so that you can quickly change between common locations when needed.

To add a new 911 Address

  • Press Add New Address
  • Fill in the required address information

  • Click Save

To edit an existing 911 Address

  • Click Edit next to the address that you want to modify
  • Modify the required address information

  • Click Save

Please Note: If the address you want to edit is marked as your Current address, you will not be able to edit it.

4. Submit your 911 Address

Press Make Current next to the address that you now want to be set as your current location for 911 purposes.

You will then be prompted and required to provide us with a current email address so that we can send you a notification once your 911 Address has been updated. Once you have selected a valid email, press Submit.

Please Note: This process to update your 911 Address should take less than 15 minutes. If after 15 minutes you do not receive a confirmation email from us, please check back in the Communicator Dashboard to confirm if the address has changed

Making Calls

Making a call from your Digital Home Phone service is the same as placing a call from a traditional phone line. Simply pick up your handset and dial the telephone number you want to call. Your call will now be connected.

Receiving Calls

Receiving a call to your Digital Home Phone service is thesame as receiving a call from a traditional phone line.When a call comes in to your telephone number, all handsets that are connected through your Digital Home Phone Adapter will ring. Simply answer one of those ringing handsets, and your call will be connected.

Please Note: If you have Voice Mail service, unanswered calls will automatically forward to your voice mail if you do not answer the call after a set number of rings.

Checking voice mail

Choose one of these ways to access your mailbox, and followthe voice prompts you hear.

  • From Digital Home Phone only
    • Call your Digital Home Phone number, and then press 98
  • From home or away
    • Call your Digital Home Phone number, and then press 7 when the greeting starts.

Accessing and using the Communicator Dashboard

The CenturyLink Communicator Dashboard is where you go tocontrol and modify the advanced features that are available with your DigitalHome Phone service. So me of this functionality includes Call Forwarding, CallBlocking, Email Notifications, and 911 Address Change.

Logging in to the Communicator Dashboard

1. Type the Communicator Dashboard URL https://communicator.centurylink.com/ into your web browser.

2. Login using your CenturyLink ID by entering your CenturyLink ID credentials to login to the Communicator Dashboard.

Please Note: If you don't remember or have yet to create a CenturyLink ID click the Get Help button on the login screen, or go to the How to Activate Your New Digital Home Phone service support page to learn how to create your CenturyLink ID.

3. Control away

You should now be logged in to the Communicator Dashboard. Modify your service to what works best.
