How much is fiber internet?

New installation and monthly fiber internet cost varies according to the plan and speed you select. However, the benefits of fiber apply across the board. The low latency and reliability of fiber internet mean you can boost your online experience with virtually no lag. You will get consistent, reliable upload and download speeds and the ability to download or upload large image files, stream your favorite shows with almost no buffering, and experience significantly less lag when gaming.

Fiber internet cost from CenturyLink

At CenturyLink, we currently offer Fiber Internet service in select areas, with a continually expanding network. Fiber is ideal for households with multiple family members streaming, gaming, downloading/uploading, and surfing at the same time.

Fiber internet service plans start at $49 for speeds of 100 Mbps and at $65 for 940 Mbps. Costs may vary based on location and availability, so visit our Fiber page to see what's available where you live and to learn about our most up-to-date pricing and current promotions.

Fiber internet installation cost

With CenturyLink, online orders for fiber internet speeds of 100 Mbps and up will get free installation. Note that the same offer is not available if you order over the phone.

Standard installation costs may be between $49 and $99, depending on how close you are to the nearest fiber network, the type of house or building you live in, and your home’s current network capabilities. Be sure to check the current pricing of fiber internet before you order for full details and any current promotions.

Fiber internet router cost

Due to the high speed of fiber internet technology, many older modem/router models are incompatible. To use fiber service, you will need a fiber internet router. Some people ask whether they can do some research and purchase their own fiber-ready router from a third-party supplier, but CenturyLink strongly recommends against this, for a few reasons:

  • We cannot guarantee that third-party equipment will work with our network.

  • If something goes wrong, you will not be covered by our equipment replacement plan and will receive very limited technical support.

  • CenturyLink technicians are unable to install third-party equipment for you.

So, to take the guesswork out of installation, and to make sure you get the support you need, we suggest buying or leasing a CenturyLink fiber-ready modem. The best model will be selected automatically when you order, or you can check out our modem FAQs for an updated list of the best routers to use with CenturyLink Fiber service.

Cost benefits of CenturyLink Fiber Internet

In addition to our low monthly fiber internet cost, here are a couple more benefits to consider:

  • No contract – We don't require you to sign a long-term, multi-year contract to access our fiber internet service.

  • No cancellation fee – Don't like CenturyLink Fiber Internet service? We’ll be sorry to see you go, but we don’t charge any cancellation fees. Just let us know that you’re canceling, and we’ll take care of the rest – without end-of-service penalties.

If you decide CenturyLink is the best choice for your fiber internet, the first step is to see if our Fiber Gigabit plan is available near you. Check availability to get started!
