Hurricane Ian Recovery

We're making progress.

In response to the destruction and damage caused by Hurricane Ian, we're working hard every day to restore services for impacted customers.

To restore services to individual homes and businesses, we first have to repair the equipment that serves neighborhoods. We've brought in additional crews to expedite network repairs to aerial fiber, underground conduit and buried copper and fiber damaged by the storm. We are also replacing broken poles and missing or flooded equipment.

Restoration timeline

  • Charlotte and Collier counties are now substantially restored.
    • Customers in areas with extreme equipment damage may experience longer restoration times. These areas may include parts of Everglades City, Marco Island, North Naples, Naples Southeast and Naples Moorings.

  • We’re striving to have Lee County substantially restored by late December.
    • Customers in areas with extreme equipment damage may experience longer restoration times. These areas may include parts of Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Cypress Lake, North Fort Myers, Sanibel, and Fort Myers Beach.

  • We will restore internet service in hundreds of homes each week in these areas.

Free WiFi locations

We understand internet is crucial as you work, engage with your community, and recover. To help, we now have 8 free public WiFi spots set up in the Cape Coral, Port Charlotte, and Sanibel areas for CenturyLink customers, and any other residents who need the service.

  • The WiFi locations are available 24 hours a day and will provide connectivity over a few hundred feet outside of each facility. Residents should look for the "Free WiFi" sign.

  • To access the free WiFi, residents should look for the wireless network named “CTL-QF Free WiFi.” No password is needed.

Some locations are CenturyLink-branded buildings. Others are remote company-owned facilities in residential areas and may be in the right-of-way or easement adjacent to the listed address. Some locations can accommodate more personal vehicles than others.
