Use No Solicitation to stop sales calls
No Solicitation is the easiest way to let telemarketers know you're "not interested"—without having to talk to them. Your incoming calls are screened from 8 am to 9 pm every day.
An automatic message asks solicitors to hang up and tells regular callers to press 1 to complete the call. You can also set up a privileged list of your favorite callers so they.ll automatically bypass the solicitor screening.
Getting started with No Solicitation
When you first order No Solicitation,* it's turned OFF. To start screening calls, turn it ON:
When you're home, dial from the line it's installed on.
Choose No Solicitation from the Main Menu.
Follow the recorded instructions to turn it ON.
Incoming calls are then screened from 8 am until 9 pm every day. Before the phone rings, callers hear this message:
You have reached a number that does not accept solicitations. If you are a solicitor, please add this number to your do-not-call list and hang up now. Otherwise, press 1, or stay on the line.
During other hours, calls ring through to your home as usual.
Did you know? The first time you call the CenturyLink Update Center you're asked for a security code. You can enter the temporary security code 1-2-3-4. Then, follow the recorded instructions to set up your personal code.
If you've already set up another CenturyLink service through the Update Center, like call following, you can use the same security code for No Solicitation. You do not need to set up a new code. Simply enter your existing code instead of 1-2-3-4.
Managing No Solicitation
Now that you.ve turned on No Solicitation, you.ll be able to call the Update Center from your home, or any touch-tone, phone.
If you're home, call the CenturyLink Update Center by dialing from the phone line that No Solicitation's installed on.
If you're away, call the Update Center at 888-(your area code)-8052** from any touch-tone phone.
Turning No Solicitation ON/OFF
To temporarily turn this calling feature OFF, call the Update Center, choose No Solicitationfrom the Main Menu and follow the recorded instructions. Keep in mind that while No Solicitation is OFF, it will not screen any incoming calls until you turn it ON.
To turn No Solicitation back ON, call the Update Center again, choose No Solicitation from the Main Menu and follow the recorded instructions.
Tip: Friends and relatives can skip the screening message by pressing 1 as soon as they hear it begin. (If they do this 5 times within 7 days, they'll automatically be added to your privileged caller list and won't hear the screening message again.)
Setting up a privileged caller list
Setting up a privileged caller list is the best way to let your favorite callers connect as usual.***
There are three different ways you can set up a list:
By area code
Incoming calls from the area code you've selected won't hear the No Solicitation message.
By area code and prefix
Incoming calls with the area code and prefix you've selected won't hear the No Solicitation message.
By 10-digit number
Incoming calls from the specific number(s) you've selected won't hear the No Solicitation message. (You can have up to 25 numbers on your list.)
To set up your privileged caller list, call the Update Center, select No Solicitationand follow the recorded instructions to set up or change entries on your list.
