Instead of manually hitting redial to reach a busy number, let your phone do the work for you.

How to use Continuous Redial

Next time you get a busy signal, do the following: 


  1. Hang up the phone.
  2. Lift the receiver and listen for the dial tone.
  3. Press *66.
  4. Hang up the phone.


When the line's no longer busy, you'll hear a distinctive (short-short-long) ring. You can:

  • Ignore the ring, or
  • Pick up the phone to connect the call


If you no longer need to reach the number, pick up the receiver and press *86.

Good to know about Continuous Redial

This calling feature keeps redialing the number every 60 seconds for up to 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, if the line is still busy, a recorded announcement tells you to hang up and try again later.


  • You can activate this feature on up to 15 numbers at one time.

  • Continuous Redial works with most local, and some long distance numbers, but it cannot be used with wireless numbers.

  • You can continue to place and receive calls while this service is active.

  • When the line is no longer busy, Continuous Redial will try three times within 30 minutes to notify you that the line is available and you can place your call.

  • When you activate Continuous Redial, you will hear this message: "The number called is busy. A special ringing will tell you when the line is free. Please hang up now."
  • If you cancel Continuous Redial, you will hear this message: "You have canceled your request. Please hang up now."

  • Continuous Redial is available in most areas — it's sometimes also called Automatic or Busy Redial or simply *66.
  • Depending on your location, Continuous Redial can be added to your Simply Unlimited plan or used as a pay-per-use feature.
