Set up your modem and connect your internet service

If you have ordered new internet service or a new modem from CenturyLink, and plan to set up the service yourself, that is called “self-install.” Here is what you need to know before completing the self-install process.

First, your modem will arrive in the mail on or before the date your service is scheduled to start. As long as you provided a valid email address when you ordered, you will receive an email with a link to track the modem order status. Look for this email to help you plan ahead.

Once you reach your order date, and you have received your modem, you're ready to get started!

NOTE:  This information applies to newer CenturyLink modems. Other modems may have different features, lights, and behaviors.
1. Get a device ready to use for installation
2. Choose a good location for your modem
3. Install filters if needed
4. Follow the instructions that came with the modem
5. Check the modem status lights
